Tia Sara's Movies

Tia Sara had a video camera back in the day. She took many videos of the times of her life. This is one of those videos. It looks like my Tia Sara recorded a year of events that she attended such as weddings, baptisms and important meals.

The video has blocks of text that describes the event that will be shown in the video. This is a screen shot of the first block of text:

The English translation is: April 27, 1948. Friends of D. Maximo Arsugara assisting the banquette that was offered for his saint's day. I remember that my relatives in Mexico celebrated their saint's day more commonly than their birthday. Of course, this is a Catholic tradition as well.

The second block of text from the video is pictured below:

The English translation is: May 10, 1948.  Alvaro Constantino Paredes Balderrama born March 11, 1948. He received this day the waters of baptism. This block of text was followed immediately by this next picture:

It says: His Godparents Jeronimo Mayorga and Sara Paredes-Mayorga. Geronimo was Sara's husband. He passed away before I was born.

The next block of text is featured below:

It translates: June 6, 1948. Alvaro Constantino Paredes Balderrama visiting the colorful house a 2 months and 25 day old.

The next block if text is pictured below:

It reads: June 28, 1928. Invited by the family Marañón Cacho. Assisted our close friends with a celebration of ten lustrums of the head of the family. A lustrum is a five year period.

The next block of text is shown below:

The English translation is: August 3, 1948. Wedding: Arturo Bázquez-Delfina Orozco. Godparent: Julián Rodriguez Lopez and Maria Luisa Camarena de Rodriguez. Leaving from the Parroquial Temple.

The last block of text is pictured below:

It reads: September 30, 1948 an intimate sociable celebration of Mr. Geronimo Mayorga.

Here are some screen shots from the video. The first shot is in color and shows Tia Sara's garden.

The next screen shot is of the godparents Jeronimo and Sara holding the baby.

The next shot is my grandfather, Joaquin Paredes Roman.

Here is a screen shot of Tia Chuchi.

The next shot is Tia Sara and my uncle, Joaquin Paredes Areizaga.

Trinidad Roman can be seen in couple of shots.

Here are a couple of shots of a church ceremony. First come the angels.

Next comes the baby Jesus and the women in veils. Tia Sara and Tia Chuchi are among the women. Both women can be seen in the bottom picture.
